Questions you might ask about error messages

What are error messages?

Error messages are presented to the user when the program detects an unexpected condition during its operation. An error message usually lists two numbers, a "Picture This... Error:" and an "API Error:".

What should I do when I encounter an error message?

When you contact us please provide the following:

• Which of our products you are using, also give the version number and copyright date.
• Your platform (Windows or Macintosh)
• Which error messages you are getting
• When the error messages occur

Prior to contacting us you should also check the support page for your product (see above) to see if your error has been reported. If you find the error message on the support page, your problem has been reported to us previously and we will be able to provide an update immediately that will fix your problem. There will also be a description of the problem on the updates page.
